About Education Working Group

The Education Development Partners Group (Ed-DPG) is one of the sub-groups of the overall Development Partners Group (DPG) in Tanzania consisting of bilateral and multi-lateral agencies providing support to the Education Sector. The Ed-DPG was established in line with the Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness and facilitates coordination of Development Partners support to the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania in achieving equitable access to quality education. The group is comprised of, but not limited to: AfDB, EU, FCDO, GIZ, Global Affairs Canada, Global Partnership for Education, ILO, Irish Aid, KOICA, Sida, Swiss Development Cooperation, The Royal Norwegian Embassy, TIKA, UNESCO, UNICEF, UNIDO, USAID and World Bank which are providing support to the education sector through different modalities including general budget support, sector budget support, programme and project support. 

The Ed-DPG promotes coordination of the Development Partners’ activities to ensure the most efficient use of resources are provided to the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania to achieve the education objectives and priorities highlighted in the Tanzania Development Vision 2025, Five Year Development Plan (FYDP), Education and Training Policy (ETP), Education Sector Development Plan (ESDP), National Strategy for Growth and Reduction of Poverty (NSGRP), and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The group generally meets once per month, and is led by the presiding Ed-DPG Chair, UNICEF, supported by the Co-Chair, USAID. The group also has a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) subgroup currently chaired by KOICA with USAID as Co-Chair. The Chair/Co-Chair is rotated on an annual basis.
