US CDC, AMREF team up in strengthening infectious diseases prevention in Hanang

US CDC in collaboration with AMREF Tanzania have handed over 4 handwashing facilities to schools in Manyara region worth $15,592 to strengthen infectious prevention practices at public facilities. Speaking at the handover ceremony AMREF Health Africa Country Director, Dr. Florence Temu said that the move is inline with guidelines from the Ministry of Health. She emphasized the importance of the integrated approach of strengthening Event-Based Surveillance (EBS) and WASH in the district, highlighting the significant progress made in early warning and response to public health threats in the region, thanks to support of US CDC Tanzania. Dr. Wangeci Gatei CDC Director of the Division of Global Health Protection reiterated the commitment of CDC Tanzania to strengthening infectious practices in Tanzania through collaborative efforts with the government and local partners. She noted that the goal of assisting the government of Tanzania in complying with the International Health Regulations (2005) through the Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA) 2024 targets.
