The Tanzanian government praised the World Bank for its support in improving access to clean water and sanitation in schools and rural communities through the Sustainable WASH program. Speaking at a multi-country roundtable in Dar es Salaam yesterday, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Water thanked the World Bank, highlighting the program’s successes. This $352 million project has significantly boosted water sector investments, resource mobilization, and capacity building since its launch in 2019. Currently operating in 25 regions, the program is expected to achieve even more next year. The Permanent Secretary also noted a significant increase in rural water supply points, now reaching 72.3%.
