Poland to provide insurance guarantees for railway slots

Tanzania and Poland have agreed to strengthen their bilateral ties and economic cooperation, with President Samia Suluhu Hassan announcing that Poland will provide insurance guarantees for railway slots through its export credit agency KUKE. The two countries also agreed to start direct flights between them and revitalize diplomatic cooperation in various sectors.

During a joint press conference, President Samia and visiting Polish President Andrzej Duda discussed cooperation in areas such as ICT, health, education, agriculture, and tourism. They emphasized the importance of intensifying the use of technology in manufacturing and mining sectors.

President Duda’s visit to Tanzania is a testament to the strong bilateral relationship between the two countries. Poland is among the top 10 countries in terms of tourist visitations to Tanzania, and the visiting leader expressed interest in increasing tourism and trade between the two nations.

Poland has also offered scholarships to Tanzanian youth to study in Poland in fields like ICT, environment, and climate change mitigation. The visit aims to bolster bilateral ties and pave the way for enhanced cooperation across various sectors.

The Polish government has provided $1.137 million to the Aga Khan Hospital in Tanzania to support emergency care services. This funding is intended to improve treatment and educate healthcare service providers.

President Duda’s visit to Tanzania is part of a broader tour of Africa, aimed at boosting economic ties and strategic cooperation. The visit comes at a time when Poland is seeking to strengthen its relations with African nations and counter Russian misinformation.
