Switzerland Lauds 60 Years Ties, $1bn Grants

Switzerland has invested over $1 billion in various development projects in Tanzania over the past 60 years, according to the outgoing Swiss ambassador, Didier Chassot. The ambassador highlighted the long-standing and fruitful collaboration between the two countries, which dates back nearly a century.

Switzerland has been actively involved in supporting development projects in Tanzania since the early 1960s. The country’s commitment to human development and cooperation has contributed to improving the lives of millions of people in Tanzania.

Juma Makungu Juma, the Finance and Planning deputy state minister in the Zanzibar President’s Office, acknowledged the collaborative efforts between the two countries in sectors such as health, education, tourism, trade, and community development. He emphasized the need for further collaboration in industrial technology and value addition for key cash crops.

The celebration of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Switzerland and Tanzania marks a significant milestone in their partnership. Both countries look forward to continued cooperation and strengthening their bilateral ties in the future.
